Carreker Prepares for Daylight Saving Time Changes

PREPARING FOR 2007 DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME CHANGES

Overview
In 2007, due to the Energy Policy Act of 2005, Daylight Saving Time (DST) will start three weeks earlier on March 11th (the second Sunday of March), and end one week later on November 4th (the first Sunday of November). Any programs that use “date/time information” (including date, time, or time zone values) may be affected. Most applications that deal with date/time information typically use programming language and/or operating system calls to retrieve and manipulate date/time information.

Carreker Readiness
Carreker’s internal systems have been reviewed and evaluated for required updates.  Roll-out of all required patches is scheduled to be completed by 2/16/07.  No impact to customer-facing services is anticipated.

Carreker Products Specifically Affected
All Carreker products and solutions have been reviewed.  Only two applications have been identified that might require an update (depending upon your installed version and what functionality you use) to accommodate the new DST changes.  Log on to the Solution Line Web site to get more details or call the Solution Line at 800-955-9272 to ask about your products or request a copy of the readiness documentation.

Prerequisite Software That Indirectly Affects Carreker Products
Like most software applications, Carreker products rely on other vendors’ operating systems, middleware, and possibly on Java for date/time information.  Operating systems used by Carreker products include IBM’s z/OS, AIX, and OS/2, Microsoft’s Windows, and Linux.  Carreker products also rely on middleware products, including IBM’s DB2, WebSphere, and MQ Series, BEA’s Weblogic, Microsoft’s SQL Server, and Oracle’s database.

To ensure continued integrity of date/time information and correct functioning, Carreker products are dependent on all identified 2007 time zone updates being installed and tested on relevant operating systems, Java environments, and middleware. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that these updates are installed and tested.

IBM, Microsoft, Sun, BEA, and Oracle have identified changes required to support the new time zone rules for 2007.  Click here for a list of software provider web sites and associated links for good starting points to identify the necessary updates.
