Check Image Archive MVS

The Carreker Check Image Archive MVS (Archive Enabling) improves customer service while generating new fee income. It provides a repository of check images and codeline data supporting on-line viewing by bank personnel, direct customer access, and applications such as CD-ROM delivery of check images and image statements from archive.

Check Image Archive MVS:

  • Manages the archiving of check images to tape, freeing up disk storage for reuse
  • Provides a relational database index to the images
  • Works with Carreker’s Image Delivery System, providing online access to check images
  • Supports creating image statements and CD-ROMs from images stored in the archive.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

The Check Image Archive MVS, working with the Carreker Image Delivery System (IDS+) improves customer service quality while also providing new fee income opportunities.

The combination of the viewing capabilities of the IDS+ offering and the long-term archive capabilities of the Application Archive allows banks to have on-line access to a seven-year history of customer check images and codeline data.

The IDS+ Accord set of products provides image access capabilities that can be used by bank customers to access images of their checks, and by bank customer service personnel for customer service activities. Image viewing can be used by internal bank departments, such as ARP customer service representatives, call center personnel, research and adjustments staff, or branch office personnel to support their customer service efforts. Access to the archive of check images could also be extended out to corporate customers, or to home banking customers.

IMAGE STATEMENTS

Check Image Archive MVS can be utilized to facilitate the creation of check image statements from archive. When producing image statements from the archive, the check images are captured daily and are written to archive managed tape. The images are organized by cycle for processing efficiency. On statements day, the images for the cycle being processed are restored to the image system database, and are subsequently processed by the Image Statements application.

Statements from archive improves the traditional process in three ways.

  • Workload leveling, eliminates peak processing issues caused by large month end cycles.
  • The quality of statements is improved, since the bank is no longer exposed to lost item problems that stem from customer service staffs misfiling checks.
  • This approach builds the foundation for on-line access to check images for customer service purposes.

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE

The combination of on-line image access and support for bulk processing applications such as image statements makes the Check Image Archive MVS a very powerful component of a bank’s strategy to improve customer satisfaction and to increase fee income. Check Image Archive MVS allows customer check images to be captured and stored indefinitely. Customer service can be greatly enhanced by using the archive to respond to customer inquiries in a more timely manner.

New customer offerings can be developed that let bank customers access the image archive directly, generating new fee income. Image statements and CD-ROM deliverables can be produced from the image archive, producing a higher quality product. Banks that successfully incorporate image archive capabilities into their offerings will be well positioned to be viewed as the preferred provider of checking services, giving them a distinctive competitive advantage.
