Check Image Import™ (CII)
Check Image Import (CII) provides
users the ability to import check
images into the Carreker Check
Image Management System (CIMS).
SUMMARY
The Carreker Check Image Import
(CII) product adds enhanced usability
to the many suppliers of hardware
and software that are capable of
lifting images of checks and storing
the images and their associated data.
Some of these systems can be directly
attached to the Carreker image capture
environment, but others cannot.
Many of Carreker' image customers
have a mix of check image systems
installed. Check Image Import allows
banks the ability to import check
images into the Carreker Check Image
Management System (CIMS) in those
cases where direct attachment of
the capture devices is either not
possible or not desirable. This allows
CIMS to serve as the central repository
for all check images.
FORMATS
The most prevalent image compression
formats created by these systems
are:
- CCITT-G4 for black/white
- Joint Photograph Experts Group
(JPEG) for gray scale
- Both JPEG and G4 are wrapped
in TIFF wrappers.
FUNCTION
Check Image Import allows images
to be loaded without requiring that
the images be recompressed. The images
can then be processed using the Carreker
Image Delivery System (IDS). The
imported check image wrappers will
be converted to IOCA, image access
key information added, and the IOCA
wrapped G4 or JPEG compressed images
and keys written to CIMS. The images
can then be retrieved for viewing
or can be packaged on CD-ROM for
viewing at your customers location.
All normal IDS viewing options are
available for these images.
PROCESS
The images and corresponding MICR
input data must be formatted in a
pre-defined Common Input File Format
(CIFF). This file can be delivered
on tape cartridges or as a host based
flat file.
Check Image Import reads the CIFF
file with input images TIFF or IOCA
wrapped, and ABIC, JPEG or G4 compression.
CII converts the wrappers to IOCA
format, writes the images out to
CIMS, updates the CIMS directory,
and creates an Image Access Key (IAK)
format file, providing summary information
about the imported items.
Once the images are stored in CIMS
they are available to be processed
by the full suite of check image
applications. These images can be
viewed, printed as part of an image
statement, or written out to CD-ROMs
for delivery to the bank's customers.
If a long-term check image archive
has been implemented, these images
can be staged to other DASD, optical
disk, or tape storage, along with
images captured on direct attached
check image capture systems.
FEATURES
- Check Image Import can be used to
import check images from other Carreker
based check systems, supporting the
interchange of check images between
institutions, or as a means of transferring
check images within a single, multi-site
organization.
- Check Image Import allows images
to be imported at up to 100,000 images
per hour, per copy of CII.
- Check Image Import allows the Carreker
check image system to serve as a
consolidation point for all check
images.
- Check Image Import can accept all
of the most common image formats,
store and manipulate these images,
and will allow banks to meet the
needs of their customers, while preserving
their investments in ancillary check
image systems for retail lock box,
returns items, etc. that may not
be based on the Carreker check image
capture software system.
