Bulk Item Transfer

Carreker's Bulk Image Transfer (BIT) provides for the movement of large amounts of image data quickly and with great flexibility via programs that transfer image data among one or more CIMS image databases without having to create intermediate files.

SUMMARY

Carreker's Bulk Image Transfer (BIT) provides for the movement of large amounts of image data quickly and with great flexibility. BIT consists of programs that Carreker's High Performance Transaction System (HPTS) customers to transfer image data from one or more CIMS image databases to other CIMS databases. Unlike Carreker's Export/Import products, there is no need for a CIFF data set or other intermediate media file.

Users supply the list of items to be transferred to Bulk Image Transfer. The retrieved items are then stored in the target CIMS(s). Bulk Image Transfer supports the transfer of images; it does not support the transfer of index data.

PLATFORMS

The Bulk Image Transfer system is a general-purpose, image-only transfer application within a single MVS platform. BIT supports the transfer of images to and from HPTS/ALS/CIMS subsystems. Running on an MVS platform as a batch job, Bulk Image Transfer can run multiple copies at the same time in a logical processor complex.

OPERATION

Users create input data sets from available image data and index data and deliver them to the system where Bulk Image Transfer runs. The transfer operation consists of the following processing phases:

  • Initialization
  • Processing input data sets
  • Retrieving images from a CIMS source repository
  • Writing the output record(s) to a CIMS target repository

Bulk Image Transfer retrieves images from one or more CIMS source repositories, and places those images in one of potentially many target host repositories.

Retrieving/Storing Item Images

Bulk Image Transfer attempts to retrieve or store an image for each input item that is requested by the input data and is not excluded by the respective item retrieve and item store user exits.

Customizing Bulk Image Transfer Retrieve/Store Processing

Users may customize Bulk Image Transfer to meet their specific needs by executing Retrieve and Store processing calls from provided user exits.

POSSIBLE USES

Statements Customers
IDS Customers
HPTS/POD Customers

BIT provides the ability to move image data captured on a prime pass CPCS/CIMS system to a Statement-only, IDS-only, or an HPTS/POD-only system. This allows users of these systems to alleviate their dependency on one highly used CPCS/CIMS environment and isolates their processing from the adverse effects of other system processes.

Image-Based Reject Repair Customers

BIT provides the ability to move image data captured to a prime pass CPCS/CIMS system to a Reject/Repair-only system. This allows Reject/Repair customers to perform their repair operations and then move the repaired images back to a downstream processing CPCS/CIMS system.

Enterprise Archive Customers

BIT provides the ability to move image data captured to a prime-pass CPCS/CIMS system to an Archive-only CPCS/CIMS system. The images can be moved to their repository through Archive.
