The NeXGen® Payments Platform
Within Carreker’s Payment Framework lies the NeXGen
Payments Platform, an electronic payments processing engine
that establishes a consistent technology foundation for processing
electronic payments across the enterprise.
The NeXGen Payments Platform was developed in response to the
industry’s need for an electronic payments processing
engine. Its value will increase exponentially as the volume
of paper-based transactions continues to diminish. Utilizing
the NeXGen Payments Platform for integration and application
sharing allows banks to achieve greater synergy in their electronic
payments strategy and take a more cost-effective, streamlined
approach to their new technology investments.
The NeXGen Payments Platform is designed to handle the various
aspects of electronification (or truncation) of checks in
financial transactions. The platform performs these functions:
- Source Control – the receipt, file validation
and storage of data and image files
- Shared Databases – for short-term retention
of images, for transactions (Send Warehouse), for receiving
bank profiles (profiles databases) and for metrics
- Tracking and Control – data and metrics
stored for each transaction to support analysis, tracking,
and settlement
- Transaction Certification – data and image analysis,
verification, virtual reject repair and reconcilement. Transaction
Certification includes Carreker’s QAS
- Image Inspector™,
Transaction Balancing Services™, and Amount Encoding
Verification (AEV)™ solutions, which can also be
ordered separately.
- Pooled Services – the capability to use
the platform for image analysis and key from image data
repair
- Virtual Sorter – the virtual “pocketing” of
items in the transaction database and assignment of items
to endpoints
- Transaction Distribution – the extraction
and formatting of data and images for internal and external
distribution; the initiation and tracking of file movement
Compatibility with Legacy Applications
The NeXGen Payments Platform was designed for integration
with banks’ legacy applications as well as new technologies
from other vendors. This key advantage allows banks to implement
Carreker technology more quickly and cost effectively. It
also facilitates a seamless payments processing environment
and rapid installation of additional applications such as
our IRD authoring, branch capture, corporate capture and
image exchange solutions.
Applications Integrated With the NeXGen Payments Platform
Carreker offers the mission-critical, image-based payment
processing applications required to leverage the benefits
of check truncation. These applications are integrated with
the NeXGen Payments Platform. Utilizing the NeXGen Payments
Platform for integration and application sharing allows banks
to achieve greater synergy in their electronic payments strategy
and take a more cost-effective, streamlined approach to their
new technology investments. Carreker applications that are
integrated with the platform include:
Source Capture Suite™: Source Capture applications
support the distributed capture of image-based deposits and
payments. End-to-end solutions for web, corporate and branch
image capture are currently available. Solutions for ATM
and cash vault image capture are planned for future release.
ExchgLink™: ExchgLink software offers financial institutions
a comprehensive solution for exchanging images with other
banks and their archive providers.
IRD Author™: IRD Author enables banks to generate
IRD print-ready files that can be printed locally or transmitted
for remote printing.
The NeXGen Payments Platform, when used in conjunction with
Source Capture for remote image capture of payments, ExchgLink
for image exchange support, and IRD Author for in-house IRD
production, provides a full and comprehensive suite of offerings
that allows the bank to deploy an aggressive strategy for
electronic payments processing.
