QAS - Image Inspector™

ENSURE IMAGE INTEGRITY AND USABILITY, AND REDUCE RISK

Internal check imaging initiatives such as fraud detection, exceptions, adjustments and research — combined with the adoption of IRDs, image exchange and distributed capture — have made image quality a paramount concern. QAS – Image Inspector™ helps ensure the quality of payment images using Carreker’s advanced image recognition technology and sophisticated detection routines. By analyzing check images and flagging low-quality items for repair, the application increases image integrity and usability, and reduces risk.

It also lowers research costs, which typically account for 40 – 60 percent of back office expenses, and enables image repair by tracking the location of original documents and allowing operators to rescan the items and manipulate the new images to arrive at a qualified result. By ensuring higher image quality standards than those currently provided by check image cameras, Image Inspector will play a critical role in your bank’s migration to an image and electronic processing environment.

Banks capturing check images can deploy Image Inspector before images are archived, transmitted to another bank or sent to customers. Image Inspector also supports customer privacy issues by verifying whether images are associated with the correct payment data. Archive providers can use it to verify the quality of images they receive from banks. The quality and usability deficiencies that can be flagged by the system include:

  • Image defects (oversized or undersized images, skew, streaks, bands, tears, folds, spot noise, etc.)
  • Missing or illegible dates, payee lines, legal amounts, courtesy amounts, and signatures
  • Missing image segments
  • Missing endorsements
  • Illegible IRDs
  • Invalid tracking numbers that may indicate an out-of-sync condition (3890 capture)
  • Items with MICR data that does not match the MICR in the image
