Pragmatic Convergence: Making Payments Convergence Pay
Electronic payments are overtaking checks for the first time, taking the topic of “payments convergence” from theory to reality. Core processing systems, which evolved in siloed fashion to handle distinctly different payment types, are no longer ideal in the current environment in which checks are being converted to images or ACH transactions, sometimes in customers' back offices. The goal is to achieve seamless, integrated convergence of payment processes, but how will banks get from here to there? This session will explore the challenge of payments convergence across several areas of the bank and address issues including:
- Why a strategy to address payments convergence is imperative for banks that want to stay competitive
- Key areas of the bank where convergence makes the most sense today
- Challenges that should be considered in a pragmatic approach to payments convergence
