Carreker Corporation Press Release - March 12, 2003

CARREKER ANNOUNCES COMPLETION OF TECHNOLOGY LEADERSHIP TRANSITION

Company’s Organizational Structure Ensures Depth in Payments-Related Expertise

DALLAS (March 12, 2003) — Carreker Corporation (Nasdaq: CANIE), a leading provider of technology and consulting solutions for the financial industry, announces the completion of the leadership transition in its technology group, Global Payments Technologies (GPT).

John Carreker has been named president of GPT, the culmination of a leadership transition that began in the third quarter of last year. Carreker will lead the Company’s global efforts to expand and position its payments-related technologies that help financial institutions succeed in a blended (paper and electronic) payments environment. Carreker was most recently managing director, International, having joined the Company eleven years ago in a payments consulting role after various management positions with banks. In his three years leading International, Carreker successfully translated the Company’s payments technology, consulting, and revenue enhancing solutions to new markets with different payments environments, significantly increasing the Company’s international business. He played a principal role in developing ongoing client relationships with many of the leading financial institutions and their service providers in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the U.K.

Joe Rowell, prior president of Memphis-based Check Solutions—a Carreker acquisition that helped solidify Carreker’s technology platform—formerly led the technology division. He will now serve as vice chairman of GPT. His responsibilities include continuing the integration of the Company’s multiple technology competencies, participation in key client initiatives, and ensuring a smooth leadership transition for clients and employees.

In addition, Mike Ringuette serves as executive vice president and chief operating officer of GPT, and is responsible for product development and professional services. Ringuette joined the Carreker team in August 2002, after twenty years leading software and services operations for several global corporations. He spent fifteen years with IBM, where he was a worldwide executive, responsible for all product development and global services within IBM's Retail Industry business.

Mike Hansen, Carreker’s president and chief operating officer, commented on the Company’s transition saying, “We are pleased to have a technology leadership structure with this depth of global payments technology expertise, track record of client and company results, and long-standing industry relationships built on trust and competence. With this team, we are positioned to leverage the value and scope of our technology and capitalize on growing payments-related opportunities.”

In December, Simon Gates joined Carreker as executive vice president and managing director, International. Based in London and responsible for the Company’s international relationship management activities, Gates will continue to drive Carreker’s international efforts. He has spent more than 14 years working in the European financial services industry and was previously a senior partner within Deloitte Consulting’s financial services practices.

Carreker’s chairman and chief executive officer, J. D. (Denny) Carreker added, “2003 is a defining year for us as we solidify our strategy around payments. We believe the recent organizational changes we’ve made provide a more balanced business model that strengthens the complementary relationship between our three business areas and ensures enterprise coordination and alignment of our corporate goals and strategic focus.”

GPT is comprised of Carreker’s software technology and was renamed along with the consulting group, Global Payments Consulting (GPC), to signify the Company’s emphasis on its payments-related strategy.
