CARREKER
ENGAGES E-PAYMENTS EXPERT NANCY
LANGER TO HEAD CONSULTING GROUP
Company
Reiterates Its Commitment To Payments
Consulting Business
DALLAS
(March 6, 2003) — Carreker
Corporation (Nasdaq: CANIE), a
leading provider of technology
and consulting solutions for the
financial industry, today announced
that Nancy Langer, former president
of Metavante Corporation’s
Electronic Payment and Presentment
division, has joined the company
as executive vice president of
Global Payments Consulting (GPC),
a newly structured unit that brings
together all of the Company’s
consulting services in one payments-focused
group.
The assembly of this business
unit reflects the company’s
emphasis on its payments-related
strategy and its commitment to
build a consulting business comprised
of a broad range of consulting
practices that help financial institutions
improve their payments business.
Carreker’s GPC group complements
the company’s two other business
units: Global Payments Technology
(GPT), formerly called Global Technology
Solutions, and Revenue Enhancement
(Rev E), completing Carreker’s
unified payments solution for financial
institutions around the globe.
Langer has extensive expertise
in electronic payments solutions.
As president of the Electronic
Payment and Presentment division
at Metavante, Langer grew the division
to contribute a substantial portion
of the company’s $650 million
in revenue. She founded the division,
expanded Metavante’s client
base for electronic payment solutions,
secured long-term contracts with
four of the largest global financial
institutions and two of the largest
global credit card companies, and
managed several electronic commerce
acquisitions. Prior to this role,
Langer was Vice President of Metavante’s
Electronic Banking Solutions, which
she also founded. Under her leadership,
this business unit built the first
full service Internet banking Application
Service Provider (ASP), which processed
the first Internet banking transaction
worldwide, and established Metavante
as a leading provider of outsourced
online banking services.
“We are very pleased to
have Nancy’s business-building
and payments expertise leading
our consulting business,” said
Mike Hansen, Carreker’s president
and chief operating officer. “Her
experience in developing electronic
payments offerings complements
our existing payments consulting
capabilities, and she has an exemplary
track record for results. We’re
confident that the combination
of her skill set and our existing
core competencies will allow us
to successfully execute this part
of our strategic plan and broaden
our GPC business to successfully
address our clients’ needs
in a blended payments environment.”
Carreker’s chairman and
chief executive officer, J. D.
(Denny) Carreker added, “The
assimilation of our consulting
services into one business unit
under Nancy’s leadership
is a critical component of our
corporate strategy around the business
of payments, a comprehensive initiative
that included the Check Solutions
acquisition in June of 2001. The
experience and proficiency of our
GPC group will help extend our
existing position in payments,
while providing thought leadership
and direction for our service and
technology decisions. We believe
the alignment of our three business
units, GPT, GPC, and Rev E, will
enable long-term value, growth
and success as we pursue the growing
market opportunity in the payments
business.”
