Corporation Press Release - March
28, 2000
Carreker
Corporation Announces Contract
with ACS for New ATM Network Monitoring
and Management Software
(DALLAS, March 28, 2000) – Carreker
Corporation* (NASDAQ: CANI) today
announced that Affiliated Computer
Services, Inc. (NYSE: ACS) has licensed
Carreker’s new product offering:
eTellerManager™, an integrated
automated teller machine (ATM) network
management solution that provides
fault and device monitoring, as well
as automated dispatch and escalation
of ATM service requests. Carreker’s
product will replace Gasper, ACS’ existing
ATM monitoring solution, for ACS’ entire
ATM network.
Through eTellerManager, ACS expects
to realize improved ATM performance
management, reduced operational costs
and increased ATM availability. The
contract with ACS represents Carreker’s
first sale of the company’s
ATM monitoring system since it was
acquired in February 2000 with the
purchase of Canadian-based Automated
Integrated Solutions, Inc. (AIS),
a provider of advanced technologies
driving the monitoring and communication
requirements of large ATM networks.
eTellerManager automates a large
portion of the work associated with
the management of large ATM networks,
allowing clients to better analyze,
respond to, and manage their ATM
networks. Using electronic data interchange
channels to communicate with most
nationally based service providers,
as well as Interactive Voice Response,
pager, e-mail and Internet facilities,
the system manages the identification
and associated dispatching of all
ATM network faults and events, as
well as the scheduling and tracking
of 1st line, 2nd line and emergency
cash activities. eTellerManager reduces
the organization’s staffing
requirements, increases ATM availability
through improved fault and service
management, and more efficiently
manages ATM service vendors and their
associated costs.
"Carreker’s comprehensive
approach to ATM management offers
a significant opportunity to improve
upon the services we bring to our
customers’ ATM networks," said
Patrick Law, vice president, Client
Operations at ACS. "As the ATM industry
continues to expand and diversify,
it is important to not only streamline
operational processes and costs,
but to look at new ways to enhance
the value realized by our customers.
Utilizing electronic computer-to-computer
mechanisms for interacting with armored
car companies and our own service
technicians, Carreker’s eTellerManager
system will allow ACS to automate
its internal communications. These
are value-added facilities that will
differentiate ACS in the ATM marketplace," concluded
Law.
The company’s comprehensive
eTellerManager is built upon an open
architecture platform and is client/server
based. According to Bjorn Larsen,
managing principal of Carreker Corporation
and former president of AIS, highly
flexible, open software has become
a necessity as the industry moves
toward an Internet-based business
model.
"In addition to the requirement
of an open platform, each industry
player wants an individualized solution
that fits their specific business
needs, without investing months of
effort in the customary scripting
associated with other ATM fault management
systems," continued Larsen. "Carreker’s
ATM management solution follows the
company’s tradition of offering
clients a customizable approach to
satisfy their unique business objectives."
"As ATM deployment nears saturation,
financial institutions are challenged
to find new ways to increase profitability," said
Royce Brown, vice chairman, Carreker
Corporation. "They must take advantage
of technological solutions to bring
their business to the forefront of
the market in an effort to increase
profit and market share while reducing
cost. As the ATM industry enters
the mature phase of its life cycle,
the costs to operate an ATM network
will continue to be scrutinized.
Those operators who have not effectively
managed their costs will have difficulty
remaining efficient in this highly
competitive marketplace," continued
Brown.
