Wells Fargo Taps Carreker To Create Image Exchange Software

Wells Fargo is partnering with Dallas-based Carreker Corporation to develop ExchgLink software for sending and receiving check images. Carreker plans to market the software to financial institutions and archive providers.

ExchgLink is designed to ultimately enable bands to truncate checks entirely, exchanging only images. It will support image exchanges for shared archives and in-house archives through each anticipated state on the payments evolution path to image-only exchange. It will also accommodate pre-Check 21 image exchange conditions.

Besides the basic functions of image and receive, ExchgLink also will support item-level recognition; image quality assurance (by interfacing with Carrekerxs Image Inspector software); and back-office functions such as inbound returns and adjustments. Carreker and Wells Fargo expect to test ExchgLink next quarter, and to start production in 2004 (Ann Cain, Carreker, 972-371-1748, acain@carreker.com).
